Unless you follow very hard core and technical information outlets, you may or may not have heard about the term augmented reality. If some of you are John Mayer fans, you may have heard about this already. Augmented reality is one of the coolest things that you will be able to see on your computer screen that you may not have ever seen before. One of the basic requirements for this technology is a webcam and a printer besides having your laptop or desktop already to go.

It was a really great idea for the music video genre to pick up on this and implement it into a music video. What you do when you got to johnmayer.com is you print out the special Battle Studios icon, then you make sure you allow the website to access your webcam and microphone and that it’s working properly. Then you line up special marks or logos with the icon on the paper or you can bring the image up on a cell phone and point it at the webcam to match them up properly.

After they have been generally lined up, you will see the music video come to life. What you will notice as you move the battle studios icon closer, farther, to the left and right is that you are able to control where you go and what you see on the music video screen set.

If you want an up close view or to see it from the far back, it will all zoom in and out as you bring the icon you are holding father and closer. If this is too hard to understand, you can youtube the keywords [john mayer augmented reality music video], and one of the videos will have somebody showing you how it works with their computer they used.

A lot of times it’s easier for so many of us to see it first to get the basic idea of what it is, then read more about how this amazing 3d technology works. Just imagine how many different things the music industry is going to be able to do and what you will be able to see if you have the right icon lined up.

There are even some magazines that have an image printed on to the page, that when held up to the correct website comes to life. It’s almost like a present that you can open and see what it is. Very cool technology that continues to blow everyone’s mind as we journey on to greater and cooler things.
